4 Things to Buy in February

Can you believe January is already over? We’ve made it past the holidays and conquered the first month of the year. Now it’s time to hit 2018 running. If you’ve been putting off some major purchases, February is the month to finally pull the trigger. From TVs to refrigerators, retailers use the second month of the year to offer some hefty discounts on a wide variety of goods.

Winter Clothing

No one wants to think about cold weather anymore with spring just around the corner but now is the time to stock up for next year. Stores will start clearing off their shelves for swim trunks and flip flops. Watch the coat racks closely. Prices will be lowered on all winter apparel. Places like Macy’s and Target drop the prices of scarves and gloves into the single digits. Sweater prices will drop 50% at Jos. A. Bank and Lands’ End will offer jackets at up to 65% off.

Home Tax Preparation Software

The tax filing deadline isn’t until April but don’t put off filing until the last minute. H & R Block offers their software for as much as 50% off. Groupon has 25 different coupons for Turbo Tax ranging from $20 off of their premier software to $5 off for students. These deals start to disappear at the end of February. Any remaining discounts are much lower once March begins.

Shiny New TV

The weekend before the Super Bowl is the absolute best time to buy a new television. Brands like Samsung, Vizio, and Sony are dropping prices on all size ranges of televisions. If you’re in the market for a home theatre experience, Samsung is selling their 75 inch, 4K television for $7,000. That’s about $1,000 less than full price. Of course, not everyone is looking to build a home theatre experience. You can take home a 50 inch Samsung smart television for around $430 at Best Buy. If you don’t need a smart television, you can grab a 50 inch Sharp television for $300.

Appliances and Bedding

For some reason, retailers have decided to celebrate President’s Day by discounting anything and everything you might need for your home. Mattress stores drop prices through the floor. You can find a full or queen set at Mattress Firm for almost half the regular price. They aren’t just discounting the bargain mattress. You can walk out of the store with Serta Memory Foam mattress for around $500.

Walmart looks to clear out their inventory during February. Kitchen appliances including small refrigerators and toaster ovens are discounted up to 65% off. The discounts are not just on appliances, they’re clearing out everything from towels to dishes. You can also access these deals through their online store.

Specialty stores are also lowering prices on their kitchen equipment. Williams-Sonoma is practically giving away knives with 50 to 75% discounts on cutlery sets. Sur La Table is offering massive discounts on pots and pans including half off of almost all of their Dutch oven.
