National Women's Small Business Month Spotlight: Narcissus Danzey

WSBM - Narcissus Danzey BLOG

When the staff at the Dothan branch shared a story about delighting Narcissus Danzey, the owner of a cleaning business in town, with a cleaning caddy to help keep her new truck clean, we thought it would be a great to highlight her for National Women’s Small Business Month.

Turns out, there’s so much more to the amazing story.

With her husband of 22 years, Gentry, she owns not just a cleaning business but several others as well. But it’s not just about their businesses.

Members of Avadian since 2021, they quickly became beloved by the staff at the Dothan branch.

“They both do so much in our community,” Kywanna Baker, a teller at the Dothan branch, said, “from feeding the community to hosting galas for up-and-coming businesses in the Wiregrass area. It’s always a delight to see them come in.”

Proud natives of Dothan with an entrepreneurial spirit, the Danzeys started their first business in 2019, Fabulous Flawed Pieces, a boutique with African pieces for women.

Their next venture came in 2021 when they started Danzey’s African Goods Store, which offers clothing, herbs, jewelry, furniture, paintings, and books connected to African culture.

And as if opening a new store wasn’t enough for one year, they also began Danzey’s Xtreme Cleaning, which catered to a diverse clientele including residential and commercial properties.

But they’re not all about business. They believe in serving their community, so this year they started a nonprofit foundation called Danzey’s Seed of Faith that includes a feeding program called Created to Serve, which provides meals, clothing, and toiletries to those in need throughout the year. Seed of Faith hosts a gala at which it awards funding for a local small business less than two years old and partners with Darrius Walker to provide two college scholarships for high school students who will be attending an HBCU.

The Danzeys can be found on Facebook and Instagram by searching for Danzey’s Xtreme Cleaning, Danzey’s African Goods Store, and Danzey’s Seed of Faith Foundation.
